More about Whimble’s On-Site Services at Events

Welcome!

If you’re here, it means Whimble is supporting accessibility and attendant care at the event you’re attending.

This page is designed to help you understand what Whimble does, what support may be available, and how to make the most of our presence.

What is Whimble?

Whimble is an on‑demand attendant care platform that connects people with disabilities and seniors to trained, vetted attendants — when and where support is needed. At events, Whimble works alongside organizers to help make participation easier, safer, and more inclusive.

Our goal is simple: to reduce barriers so you can focus on enjoying the event.

The Service

Whimble eliminates the stress placed upon people with disabilities who encounter self serve buffets, cocktail hours, long events with limited breaks, winter weather, multiple spaces to navigate between, and more.

Our personal care attendants are experienced in assisting people with disabilities with Activities of Daily Living, such as toileting, dressing, eating, and drinking. Attendants are thoroughly vetted and insured to ensure guests’ safety, and we make every effort to prioritize client-directed care and dignity.

Support can look different depending on the event and your needs. Whimble attendants may be available to assist with:

  • Personal care support (such as toileting or dressing assistance)

  • Mobility support (navigating the space, transfers, wayfinding)

  • Line support or accompaniment

  • Support during activities, sessions, or performances

  • Assistance with eating and drinking

  • ….and more!

If you are attending an upcoming Whimble-supported event, and have specific care needs that attendants may require training on, or at least have prior experience with, please reach out to us at hello@whimble.ca or through the event organizer so we can try to be as prepared as possible to assist.

If you will be attending - or are hoping to attend - an upcoming event in Ontario that has NOT yet hired Whimble, and you would like to have access to attendant care, feel free to share our site with the event organizers or send us a heads up about the event and we can proactively reach out ourselves!

FAQs

  • There are a few ways to connect with Whimble at an event:

    • On‑site: Look for the Whimble table or signage and speak with a team member. Whimble attendants wear white-shirts with the Whimble logo and ‘Personal Care Attendant’ written across the back.

    • Ahead of time: Some events may share a booking link or instructions prior to the event.

    • During the event: If support needs change, Whimble staff can help explore options in real time.

We do our best to be flexible, responsive, and respectful of your autonomy.

  • Whimble attendants are:

    • Trained in disability‑related support

    • Independently contracted and vetted

    • Focused on dignity, consent, and person‑directed care

    • There to support you, not rush or make assumptions

You are always encouraged to communicate your preferences, boundaries, and needs.

Before onboarding, every caregiver candidate is required to provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Check, 2 professional references, proof of valid CPR/First Aid training, and proof of valid professional liability insurance as an independent contractor. All candidates must also undergo a live interview process to review their skills and qualifications and ensure they are familiar with client-directed care.

  • We do not provide emergency medical assistance — if someone is facing a life threatening emergency (or otherwise dangerous situation), please call 911.

  • We work with the event organizers to ensure the Whimble attendants are stationed in a visible location for the maximum number of attendees. All attendants wear white t-shirts with large Whimble logos. And for very large events happening in multiple spaces, we can provide a 1-800 phone number for guests to call and request service at a specific location.

  • Whimble currently supports individuals and events across the National Capital Region (Ottawa) and the Greater Toronto Area.

  • We love feedback! If you have any questions or concerns during the event, please speak with a Whimble representative. You can also call our 1-855-542-6082 phone number from 7AM - 11PM daily, or email hello@whimble.ca

Larger events will also have a feedback survey available for you to complete via a QR code.
