Humanity
More than a service.
Technology can make care easier, but people are what make it meaningful. We believe great support is built on empathy and human connection.
More than 30 years ago, Whimble’s Founder and CEO, Emma Brown, began helping provide care and support for loved ones with disabilities. Through that experience, she witnessed firsthand the profound impact the right support can have, not just on a person’s daily life, but on their freedom, confidence, relationships, and ability to participate fully in the world.
She also learned that life doesn’t always fit neatly into a schedule.
Plans change. Opportunities arise. Support needs shift from day to day. Sometimes help is needed at home. Sometimes it’s needed at work, at school, at an appointment, at a concert, or on the way to a friend’s birthday party. Yet too often, care services are designed around systems and schedules rather than the people who rely on them.
That experience inspired Emma to build Whimble. The vision was simple: support should adapt to people, not the other way around.
Today, Whimble helps people access flexible, client-directed support wherever life happens. Whether it’s maintaining independence at home, getting to work, attending an event, running errands, or simply having peace of mind, our goal is to make it easier for people to live life on their own terms.
Founded in Ottawa and now serving both Ottawa and the Greater Toronto Area, we’re building a more modern, human-centered approach to care. One that combines trusted attendants with a modern platform to make support easier to access, coordinate, and receive.
As we continue to grow, our vision is to bring Whimble to major cities across Canada (and beyond) to help create a future where quality support is available whenever and wherever it’s needed.
The Problem We’re Solving

Too often, care is difficult to access, rigid in how it’s delivered, and unable to adapt when life changes. Long waitlists, limited flexibility, staffing shortages, and fragmented services leave people constantly coordinating, advocating, and filling gaps on their own. When support falls through, the consequences extend far beyond inconvenience.
For many people, care is what makes daily life possible. A missed shift can mean missing work, skipping an appointment, staying home from an event, remaining in an uncomfortable or unsafe situation for longer than necessary, or being unable to complete essential daily routines. Over time, that uncertainty can erode independence, create stress for families, and make the world feel smaller than it should be.
We believe people deserve a care experience that is reliable, flexible, and designed around how life actually works.
